For me, a business is setup when you have funds, knowledge to make a services or product into a medium to big scale, to satisfy the demand of the market.

As in general terms, business is about making money, investor is about making profit, self-employment is about making money, so with being an employee is about making an earning for living.

However the difference is the risk involved during the process of making money, making an earning, and making a living. A business not necessarily gives you a better lifestyle if you unable to control and focus what you want and end up with using debts to finance your toys.
